School Ready Kidz
What is School Ready Kidz?
School Ready Kidz is a 10-week small group program designed to help children prepare for the transition to kindergarten. In a supportive and inclusive environment, children practise important school skills such as following routines, joining group activities, listening to instructions, navigating interactions with peers and managing their belongings. Through fun, play-based learning, the program helps children build confidence, independence, and social skills, making the move to formal schooling smoother and more positive.
Objectives
- Develop independence skills, such as caring for belongings and managing zips on school bags.
- Practise listening, following instructions, and joining group activities.
- Engage in small group learning experiences with adult support.
- Build social skills, including sharing, turn-taking, and communicating with peers.
- Become familiar with daily routines and transitions in a semi-structured group.
- Strengthen gross motor and fine motor skills through play-based activities.
Who Should Attend
This group is for children the year before the transition to kindergarten. Expressions of interest are welcome for children of all abilities, including children who may benefit from extra support when preparing for school.
