Gestalt Language Development with Emma Kokorogiannis
Understanding Gestalt Language Development
Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) is changing the way we understand language development in many autistic children. In this practical and engaging workshop, Emma will explain the foundations of GLP, how it differs from traditional language development, and how to recognise the characteristics of a gestalt language processor. The workshop will explore why some children communicate using scripts, songs, movie quotes and repeated phrases, and what these forms of communication really mean.
Drawing on current research, clinical experience and real-life examples, Emma will share practical, neurodiversity-affirming strategies that can be used at home, in education and in therapy settings. By better understanding how children develop language, we can better support them to communicate in ways that are authentic, meaningful and empowering. This workshop will challenge common misconceptions, provide practical guidance, and leave you feeling inspired and equipped with practical tools to confidently support gestalt language processors in your everyday interactions.
