Changes to NDIS legislation – FAQ

We’ve had a few questions lately about the much-publicised changes to NDIS legislation. You can read the official government FAQ here, but we also wanted to compile some of our own, specific to our Foundation families.

Please note, therapies should always align with the goals outlined in your individual NDIS plan.

Can I still access occupational and speech therapies through the Foundation?

Yes! Our allied health therapists are fully qualified, and for those participating in the Therapy Assistant Program, the therapy assistant and their programs are supervised and supported by fully qualified allied health therapists.

Can I still access group therapies?

Yes! Our group therapies (Communication Explorers, Sensory Kidz, School Ready Kidz, Kidz Club, Andy Bear Club and our school holiday programs) are all run or overseen by fully qualified allied health therapists. You can read more about our group programs here.

Can I still use NDIS funding to cover the travel fee?

Yes! We believe it is best practice to deliver individual therapies in community settings such as homes, preschools and daycare centres. Our fees are eligible to be claimed via your child’s NDIS plan. Please note it is the responsibility of the plan manager (or parent, if self-managed), to determine if there is enough funding to cover the transport fees.

As always, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via info@stf.org.au or by calling 1300 111 783.
