How long have you been working with Stronger Together Foundation? And what is your role?
1 year, Speech Pathology Therapy Assistant (SPTA).
What inspired you to work with kids? Was it the fun toys or something else?
Experiencing early intervention for one of my own children inspired me to work with kids and be a part of their development in the crucial early years.
What’s your go-to funny story from working with kids? (Spill the beans, we love a good laugh!)
When my kids were little I was always amazed by how much sand they could bring home from preschool. Now it’s me that is leaving little piles of sand everywhere when I get home from work!
What’s the best part of your day? Is it that first sip of coffee or a little victory with a kiddo?
It’s incredibly satisfying to witness the team’s proposed ideas being put into action with positive outcomes.
What’s your favourite activity or game you play in sessions?
Whatever the favourite activity or game of the kiddo is!
When you’re not at work, where would we most likely find you?
Driving one of my kids to an extracurricular activity.
Is there a book or movie that totally speaks to your work? (Bonus points if it’s a kid’s movie!)
The movie Inside Out is an animation that beautifully illustrates the complexity of human emotions and behaviour. It’s a great reminder that humans are not robots – we are all unique and experience the word differently – and this can be different every day depending on our environment and so many other factors.
What is your favourite animal? And do you have any pets?
Dogs – I have always had a dog and can’t imagine my life without one (or more!). We have 1 dog and 2 chickens.
What’s your guilty pleasure snack that powers you through a long day?
A Tim Tam with my afternoon coffee.
